Dayton Driving School Scholarship Program

Empowering Young Drivers in the Miami Valley - One Scholarship at a Time

At Dayton Driving School, we're more than just a state-approved driver training provider-we're committed to building safer roads and brighter futures right here in Vandalia, Dayton, Kettering, Huber Heights, Fairborn, Beavercreek, Centerville, and surrounding communities.

That's why we proudly fund and award our own Dayton Driving School Scholarship each year. This program is designed to remove financial barriers and give select young drivers the opportunity to complete high-quality driver education, gain confidence behind the wheel, and start their journey toward independence responsibly.

About Our Scholarship

Our scholarship is fully funded by Dayton Driving School as part of our mission to support the next generation of safe drivers in the Greater Dayton area. We believe every eligible young driver deserves access to professional instruction, regardless of family finances-especially now that Ohio requires full Class D training for all new drivers under 21.

  • What it covers: Full tuition for our complete Class D Driver Training package, including the required 24 hours of classroom instruction (online, self-paced) + 8 hours of behind-the-wheel training-or the equivalent value for our Drive-Only program if classroom requirements are already met.
  • Number awarded: We select a limited number of recipients each year to ensure personalized attention and meaningful impact.
  • Value: Up to the full cost of our standard program (a savings of several hundred dollars per student).
  • Eligibility highlights:
    • Applicants ages 15½-21 residing in the Greater Dayton/Miami Valley area.
    • Demonstrated financial need (e.g., family qualifies for free/reduced school lunch, public assistance programs, or similar circumstances).
    • Strong academic/community involvement, good character, and a commitment to safe driving.
    • Must be a first-time driver education student (no prior completion of an Ohio-approved Class D course).
    • Willingness to participate in a short essay or interview about why safe driving matters to them.

We review applications holistically and select recipients based on need, merit, and potential to become responsible, community-minded drivers.
